Ñuble will once again become the meeting point for lovers of centuries-old photographic techniques.
The bases and application form are now available on the website www.fichafest.cl to be part of the collective exhibition of the Chillán Análogo International Festival, which last year received more than 600 photographs and exhibited 150 professionals and photography enthusiasts. analogous in Chile, held different free workshops and received dozens of interested parties from the national territory as an audience in its activities. This year the call is Latin American and deals with “Territory and Identity”. To be part you just have to access their website, read the rules and fill out the website form and attach the photographs before August 18.
The Festival will take place on October 18, 19 and 20 and the exhibition that will start during the festival will be open to the public for a month at the International Graphic Museum of Chillán. In addition to the exhibition resulting from the call, we received an important sample of contemporary Daguerreotypes, made by Latin American artists.
This year, mediations will also be held in different schools in the region, sharing with boys and girls from 8 to 12 years old. From understanding how to use the essence of visual language to exhibiting their photographs, through building a pinhole camera, capturing and developing their own photography, and other activities created especially for them.
During September, the call will be opened for workshops that this year focus on the Daguerreotype technique, chlorotype, salt paper, chemical treatment and ecology, among other surprises. For this we have invited Pablo Biagini (Argentine Patagonia), Isis Vargas (Mexican) and Jorge H (Cuba-Argentina).
For its director, Luigi Brisso Pifferi, this event comes to refresh us, among so much digital image. “Analog photography has an alchemical part, everything that has to do with the chemistry of the photo reunites us with the craft, with the making, it is how to recognize grandmother's cooking recipes. It is truly healing and significant, for people to feel capable of creating these works and for communities to recognize their territory through this technique and their gaze.”
